The Orenburg region is one of the centers of sunflower production in the Russian Federation, ranking eighth in Russia for sunflower seed harvest. In 2023, over 1.3 million tons of oilseeds were harvested. This production is processed at enterprises in the region, including the Orenburg Oil Extraction Plant (OOEP). The main activity of the plant is the production of vegetable oil and meal.
The main divisions
of OOEP, JSC are:

Raw material shop, which performs functions of temporary storage, reception and unloading of raw materials from railway cars and motor vehicles.

Press shop, which performs seed cleaning, crushing with subsequent kernel destruction on rollers, heat-moisture treatment of meal in roasters, pressing on forepresses (obtaining press oil), transportation of cake to the extraction shop, oil filtration.

Extraction shop, which performs granule formation, processing of forepress cake granules with subsequent production of meal and extraction oil.

Meal elevator, which performs meal storage in the established mode and its loading into railway cars and motor vehicles.

Oil loading section, which accepts oil (press and extraction), store it and ships it to consumers.

Background


The Orenburg Oil Extraction Plant is one of the oldest enterprises
in the city. It was founded in December 1873 by merchant Kalashnikov, with the permission of Orenburg Governor-General Kryzhanovsky, as a small artisanal oil mill.
According to the order of the People's Commissar of the Food Industry of the RSFSR, Chkalov Oil Mill in 1941 was approved a staff of 269 people (before the Great Patriotic War, Orenburg was named Chkalov). The plant has undergone multiple renovations, expansions and reconstructions. Over the years, it has evolved into a large modern production facility equipped with high-performance equipment operating according to the most modern technology
of oilseed processing.

During the war years, 183 people from the plant's staff were mobilized to the Red Army, after which all the burden and responsibility fell on the shoulders of women, who quickly mastered men's specialties and took their places.
In 1969, extraction shop and meal elevator were built on the plant's territory.

The plant is located on two industrial sites, located 20 meters apart and divided by Orlov Street. Both sites are located in the northwestern part of Orenburg.
